Anything you imagine can be painted on the surface of a contact lens, including logos, names and designs, in virtually any color with contact lens paint, which are particularly good for Halloween costumes. Special effects companies create Halloween contact lenses, such as vampire eyes (like Louis and Lestat from the movie Interview with the Vampire) goblin eyes and dragon eyes with tiny black slits. You can even find contact lenses that cover the entire white portion of the eye (called the sclera.) Other possible styles include flames, spirals, stripes and more. Unfortunately, if you were hoping to find a place to order contact lens paint, so that you can then create the images yourself, you have very limited options.
Unless you know somebody who works in the special effects department of a major film studio, you’ll have to rely on other people to bring your wacky ideas for colored contact lenses to life.
Contact lens paint is available to professional make-up artists and special effects gurus, but not the common layperson yet.
But really that’s okay, because there is a style, color and type of painted lens for everyone if you search extensively enough. Perhaps you don’t want something crazy, you just want blue, green or brown eyes for a change. Online retailers have you covered, with plenty of choices. You can purchase a blend (which mixes your original eye color with a new one), a pure new color (to completely cover your original eye color), or colors made specifically for very light eyes. Why not get all three and use them for different occasions? If you’re serious about changing your eye color, the possibilities are limitless!
